John Wayne hasn’t only been a killer in the Wild West or an
anti-Indian militant. Kill them all, or deport them all, Dead or Alive. He also
acted in a vigilante misjudged and misinspired justice by/from/for a good old
mob-inclined cop story. In this last case, it sounds too much like lynching to
really be ethical. He also performed in quite a few films about the Second
World War. This In Harm’s Way is a good one because of the divided
loyalty or even loyalties of the main Admiral. Which should he support? His
estranged son, whom he abandoned when he was four? His son’s girlfriend? His
direct subordinate, though he raped his son’ Jere’s girlfriend? Or his own
girlfriend? Out of those four, destiny or fate kills the first three.
War is such a waste of cannon fodder!

film lets the war serve justice for the rapist officer. With two victims of the
rape down.
