It is not the reality of 1 man, even 1 genius who did it. It is the deep and intense production of a whole period that started with Anglicanism proclaimed by Henry VIII, and then challenged and reaffirmed. One result will be the closing of theaters and it will take practically one century for the stage to regain its beauty and that will be in music, more than ever, in operatic and oratorio music. With Marlowe and Handel, and a few more bringing together the two Renaissance arts England favored: singing and theater. And that osmosis of various stage arts will flourish ever since till today and will produce some of the most important opera composers and theater playwrights of Europe and the Western World. Shakespeare is the master of it all and the only one able to compete with what is coming from the East, first of all, Russia, and now China, India, and soon Africa and Latin America.
