The
English Commonwealth of Oliver Cromwell is like a non-existent period in English
history. Cromwell has been mostly banned from public awareness. And we know the
vengeance James II had when he came back to the throne in 1760. That was no
glorious revolution. The real Glorious Revolution got rid of the Stuarts in the
1780s. Good riddance. The worst decision of Elizabeth Ist to give the throne to
these Stuarts whose mother she had gotten rid of by imprisonment and death.
They were the four of them bad kings and Oliver Cromwell's Commonwealth
actually rooted democratic radicalism into England. But English history is not
ready to admit it.
