A Review by Șerban V.C. Enache

Appetizer & Apéritif

This is the presentation of the book published by Editions La Dondaine on the Amazon-Kindle platform. The authors are Dr Jacques Coulardeau and Ivan Eve who both spent a few years at Sorbonne University in Paris, as a lecturer and as a graduate student respectively. This document contains a review of the book by Serban V.C. Enache, a university graduate from Romania. The review is quite to the point and slightly provocative but the book is too.

The most important idea is that the Indian Ocean was the center of the world up to the 15th century when China decided to close itself after the  death of Admiral Zheng He and to make sea voyaging and commerce a felony bringing the death penalty to the concerned individuals. The maritime Silk Road closed and soon enough even the continental Silk Road was to close too.

We are today the witnesses of the rebirth of the Indian Ocean as one essential maritime center of the planet and of the reconstruction of the maritime Silk Road, along with the various continental ones, thanks to the development of container shipping and the building of vast alliances of maritime companies exploiting the super tankers and container ships, thus killing the flag of conveniences that have disrupted the world with speculation and all kinds of traffics that have to be controlled and eliminated with modern global digitalized means from satellites.

The main stake is security and privacy, and the second stake is the end of human trafficking and modern slavery resulting from old traditions of slave trade and enslaved social groups in many countries, often in the name of some religious beliefs.

So have a look at this presentation and eventually get to the book itself. Enjoy the reading.

Dr Jacques COULARDEAU
